toolbelt
spring - fall 1996
at a trinity church thrift sale near swarthmore, in the spring of 1996, i picked up a toolbelt. wrapped around my waist, it carried my tools on hand - pens, pen-light, coloured pencils, chopsticks, small book, notebook, leatherman, all within reach quick.
i wore it across the country on my summer tour. then i discovered its weight hurt my back. it was constantly dragging down my hips. i stopped wearing it so much - only on special occasions. 
howard called it my "nerd pack" it was in my car when it was stolen.
i fantasize about replacing it someday with a model that would hang as well as wrap - so i could carry my tools from my shoulders and hips both.
