I see your point - I wouldn't exactly call the lady buxom, but yes, the marketing for this event used the image of a hip (curious?) young woman to promote something where there were no women's voices. I don't know when that will end - new media seems to have carried over some of the tired forms of the old. That's certainly been the case with gender and representations of characters in video games.

I forget the name of the piece, but contemporary archeology shows that the oldest known piece of art is a small sculpture of "mother earth" - a pregnant, well rounded, and ethereal female form. You've probably seen it before.

I think the work is a testament to the fact that the female form rivals men's in terms of asthetics and symmetry. It's shows the significance and brilliance of the creator's work which transends human social issues. Why not use it to happily adorn the anouncement of an interesting event? Perhaps ladies just have to bear the additional burden of being the better looking gender.

When I said buxom, I meant this picture (which you get when you click on the banner above):

I don't know, she doesn't even have a cell phone. I thought, how does this promote The Feature's brand OR the summit?

ps, when I clicked on the "character drawings" link, I didn't see this particular character.

Thanks for the responses...
