That's great Justin. Your getting some balance in your life. Your scheduling some healthy time in there. I would love to go to San Diego. I want to visit the Che Cafe. You might be interested in checking it out.

Liz - I went to the Che Cafe on my 1996 road trip! I don't think I put the photos up before I lost them to a hard drive crash. Humph.
Howard, irony or no, I will see you on two of those, and I'm glad for it.
That's a good question Sam. This relates to your question James -
- New York is a paid consulting gig.
- San Diego is professional development (and I believe I'm going to drive there). San Diego is a conference where a good load of the technological developments that will happen on the web and on mobile devices will be addressed. Going to ETCon is important for my work with TheFeature, and much of the other writing I do. I'm going as a reporter, by the way, and I usually can't help but ask questions at other speeches and panels. It makes me a smart writer to stay in touch with the people that will be there. And SD is not a deeply expensive place to travel.
- London and Chicago are family visits. Probably my most expensive plane tickets in this run of trips, but they will probably pay for most of my food and all of my lodging.
- Austin is for SXSW, a conference I've been attending for many years. Another place where I learn about the future of this web medium for the year to come, and stay active in my professional community. I'm conducting a panel there, but I won't have any expenses paid. I will stay with friends, and Austin is not an expensive town.
- San Jose, that' just a drive away from Oakland. But I may crash down there in someone else's hotel room for the duration of the conference. Parking will be the greatest expense that week. And conference food. I'll be a reporter at GDConf, but I have a tendency to ask questions during Q and A.
- Georgia - a friend's wedding. I'm a groomsmen. I'm paying my expenses. And I'm looking forward to it!
So by the end of this run of trips, I hope to have generated some useful notes, a few good articles, a deeper sense of my community, and some reconnected ties to far distant friends and associates.
Taylor, no immediate plans to come to Toronto. I was there for a speaking gig in February 2001, at the Canadian Film Centre. That was fun. Maybe some day I'll be back!

Well -- not that I'm totally old or anything, but I just didn't have the energy I used to have even a couple years ago -- so I say to you: CARPE DIEM! I don't think your itinerary is particularly energy-conserving or restful...but if you can do it, more power to you! Go for it and enjoy it all.

I'll be in Europe February 9th - March 8th, at least. Unfortunately, I think I'll only be in London for the beginning of that stretch, but possibly a little at the end too, since my flight leaves from there.

Too bad I missed you. I did not know of you or links.net back then :-(
We shall meet someday.

Hey Justin - will you have any time while in NYC to reprise our latenight Tokyo bar snacking? I'll be around the same time you are, it'd be fun to say hello again.
