Game Over: Press Start To Continue by David SheffA history of Nintendo - from playing card company to kiddie-crack peddler. Seriously, this company practically defines the console games business, and this book is a fantastic look at their recent history. It's not only chock-full of video game business stories, it's a darn fine read too.
Andy Eddy wrote an afterword for some later versions. While I was glad to see that the Sony PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 were factored into the book, the writing was so different. Whereas Sheff had been an excellent storyteller, merging Nintendo details with a games business overview to create a great story, Eddy mostly seemed to meander through the years after the book had been published. It's too bad Sheff didn't have the time himself!
