Hi there. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I don't know of any sites that actually use agents well. One thing to keep in mind, in my opinion, agents are about the interesection of the backend functionality and the representation. In that case, Rheingolds "little dudes" are really just icons. They are not really agents. I have a copy of the Guides paper from 1990 on my web site which at least provides some good background info on the subject. Check out www.abbedon.com/Philo/guides-paper.html I have screen shots from the Guides Project and the Ameritech project on my site with brief Project descriptions, but alas, they are not interactive demos. Those URLS are: www.abbedon.com/Project/ameritech.html and www.abbedon.com/Project/guides.html Also check out: The Autonomous Agents Group at the MIT Media Lab. Here's the description from my QuickLinks: Agents. All kinds. They build 'em, they do 'em. Principal investigator Pattie Maes and her students at MIT. Many theses, projects, and descriptions of some very cutting and edgey technology. Also, check out Michael "Wave" Johnson's work. I think you can find him hanging off www.media.mit.edu but I don't remember the direct URL. He is doing some of the most cutting edge backend stuff. We worked together on a very cool demo at MIT. Hope these help. If you find any actual agents implemented on the WEB, please let me know! Hope you are well. Take care, Abbe
