Justin's Granma's Ginger Snaps
Man are they good. Crispy, hard, tasty, sugary, gingery, yum. These and a glass of milk can be the high point of any week. Gramma made them with Nebraska ingredients - powdered ginger, crisco.
1.5 cups Crisco
2 cups sugar
Using a mixer (unless you gots real strong arms) mix these two together.2 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
Add eggs and molasses to the mixture.4 cups of flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
.75 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons dried ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons of cloves
Sift all these dry ingredients together. Mix with the other stuff. Then let it sit in a 'fridge for 2 or more hours - this is important for keeping the texture of the dough firm.Shape bits of dough into balls the size of walnuts and roll them in sugar. Bake at 375 for 10-15 minutes. Viola! You've got my favourite cookie!
